Windsor for the derby The emotional rescue LP

Un climat approprié aux âmes vagabondes, qui aiment à se laisser emporter par des chansons pop folk feutrées. On glisse sur une neige fine, sans embûche, bercé par une instrumentation irréprochable et une voix calme, sereine.

Windsor for the Derby offre, avec son quatrième album, un disque énorme. En conservant leur tendance pour une obscurité à peine phosphorescente, Dan Matz, Karl Bauer (Birdwatcher) et Jason Mc Neely rompent avec leurs précédents LP en réintégrant un chemin folk-pop traditionnel. On croise les vieux fantômes de Bedhead et de Codeine, qui auraient revêtu un costume plus acoustique et ajouter des teintes d’electronique. La voix fait un peu penser à celle de Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev) et touche tout autant.

Le titre (Le sauvetage émotionnel) est loin d’être présomptueux. Les guitares acoustiques et la voix sont mises en avant (The Same, Emotional Rescue) d’une manière telle qu’on sent les vibrations des cordes et le souffle de la voix nous chatouiller l’intérieur de l’oreille. On partage les ressentiments du groupe, leurs sensations, leurs pleurs, leurs râles. L’atmosphère tendue de Mythologies, amenée par une intro lumineuse et son rythme de batterie en boucle, est l’exemple type de la beauté à l’état brut.

W. F. T. D. a su collaborer avec des gens recommandables et variés (Stars of the lid, I-Sound, The Swans) et en a visiblement tiré profit. Le voile se lève pour eux : le brouillard se dissipe, une chaleur unique arrive dans vos chaumières.

an early 70's release from tom tapp from pearls before swine called "stardancer." really strange psych tinged pop songs.

A song you wish you'd written
i never really wished i had written a song. it would be nice to be collecting the royalties for iggy pop's "lust for life." it's a great song and its on every other commmercial in america. the strokes have made a nice little career for themselves by covering this song again and again.

i've just completed reading a book on edward hopper. i love his work and his life story is just as interesting. there's a great love story between he and his wife.

What is, for you, the french stereotype
i just did a tour thru france with my other project, the birdwatcher. by the end of the tour i had completely lost my voice from breathing in second hand cigarette smoke at every possible moment in france. so i'll have to say the french smoke like chimneys.
